Tile board is a medium density fiberboard that has a hard outer layer that is made from melamine. Melamine is an organic compound that is simply to a hard plastic. This means that like many of the other materials used in backsplashes, faux brick tiles that are coated with melamine are great at being water resistant, and will not breakdown or fade when exposed to water.
