There may come a time where a family is looking to upgrade the flooring in their home or they are looking to add value to their home with some wall tiles. Brookridge residents might notice that some floor tiles look a lot like if not identical to the tiles that are labeled as wall tiles. This not a coincidence, as many floor tiles have the ability to offer the same great look and protection as they can with wall tiles, and vise versa. But why is this possible? Shouldn’t floor tiles and wall tile be somewhat different?
Tiles are a Durable Material
One of the reasons why tiles are used both in flooring materials as well as materials to cover the walls in your home is because they are a usually made out of ceramic or porcelain, which is known to be a durable material. With wall tiles, Brookridge residents would want something that is a strong material because it will be exposed to many different problems such as children with dirty hands, food particles if it is a backsplash for a kitchen, and potentially smoke damage from cooking but also people smoking inside and outside of their home.
Tiles Need to be Water Resistant
Another reason why you might see floor tiles being used as wall tiles, Brookridge residents should be aware that ceramic or porcelain tiles are great for standing up against water. This is why most people put wall tiles for backsplashes in rooms that use water such as their kitchen, their laundry room, or in their bathrooms behind their sinks or in their shower. Wall tiles unlike paint or wallpaper will not deteriorate if it is exposed to high levels of moisture all the time. This is why backsplashes made with wall tiles are also great choices for outdoor locations such as a patio.
